A Weekend Outdoors!

We had incredible weather this weekend and took advantage by spending lots and lots of time outside! (The caveat: still chilly because of wind and foggy in the mornings and evenings). After forgetting my camera on Saturday, I remembered and got a few pictures of us today.

We started off with a fun happy hour and sushi dinner with a few of Adam's co-interns and their significant others. We tried 2 new (to us) restaurants in our neighborhood and enjoyed them both. However, I have learned that when you're dining with interns, the talk is medical. And when you're dining with interns who have surgical responsibilities, the medical talk turns to medical practice:
(that's Adam showing Julia his double-handed knot technique. On a teapot. With fishing line.) It was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to bowling with them this weekend, though sadly, Adam will be working.

Adam worked overnight on Saturday, so we tried to make the most of the days. We started off running a few errands before meeting 2 Amherst swim friends at the Ferry Terminal Farmer's Market for brunch. It was absolutely gorgeous outside, and I'm so sad I didn't bring my camera. We were right by the Bay Bridge, there were tons of people and incredible produce, and we even saw a seal in the water! We got home, grabbed a blanket and books, and headed to Golden Gate Park to enjoy the weather. There is also a huge music festival going on in the park this weekend, and we could hear it all the way on the other side. Glad to have been away from the craziness, but hearing it from a distance worked out well. It was a perfect afternoon!

After a crazy night (I think there were 5 deliveries on the labor floor!), Adam came home, and we had breakfast together before he took a nap while I lesson planned.  Then he got up and we walked along Haight Street, mostly people watching before finding a brunch place. It really is a sight to see and difficult to begin to describe. There's a park near the Haight, Buena Vista, with a few walking paths and an incredible view of the city (it's basically a massive hill). We walked up and were able to orient ourselves based on the water, fog (it always rolls in from the west), and loud bass coming from Golden Gate Park. We even spotted the hospital! (the tall buildings on the hill between the trees)
Foggy San Francisco. The mountains of Marin can just be seen over the fog. The Golden Gate Bridge is blocked by fog, but you can kind of see the bottom of it if you look closely!
We got home and Adam napped a bit more while I made a variety of foods for this week. I'm trying to get in the habit of cooking in advance and using that crockpot! I hope it lasts...!
