Antique fair

This morning, we got up and headed to a popular antique market in Alameda, across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco. At first, it seemed like PanJiaYuan, but after walking around a bit, we found some awesome stuff, including lots of fantastic furniture. If we're in the market for new furniture in the future, we're definitely going there first!

After lots of searching, we found a great coffee table, We both remarked that it wasn't what either of us had imagined we'd get, but that it would fit our space perfectly. It's also a unique piece with a lot of character (much like our apartment) and the colors look great against the couch.
While it's on the shaggy rug now, we're hoping to switch that up with something lighter eventually. It even has 2 drawers for blankets (much needed in this cold weather!), remotes, etc.

We also cleared most of the floor space today and organized some shelves. We're getting there. Here are a few pictures of stuff on the wall (Adam's favorite!).

This is FINALLY on the wall after sitting on the floor for a year in New York. We rigged it with 3 picture hooks and lots of fishing line. Strategically located across from our bed instead of above our heads...just in case :)
Our ketubah on the wall in our room. We put a bookshelf under it because we didn't know what else to do with it, and it works for storage and for bins of sweats and gym clothes.
The mantle! A mixture of Arizona (a beautiful painting of the Grand Canyon by Adam's swim coach), Judaism (gorgeous menorah), China (either end) and our Pakistani items from western China.
To the left of the mantle, shelves of books and DVDs and the TV corner, home of Olympic watching 2012. Pretty much what we've done every night for the past week, and it has been so much fun!

On our way to Alameda, Adam and I talked about how we're trying hard to take advantage of his days off and explore our new city. The advantage to having moved is that we really are able to do a lot when we can, as opposed to a big brunch and afternoon nap in New York. It's been up and down (though mostly up for sure), and realizing how much we're able to do and how we're doing it together has really shown how positive this experience has been. Hopefully it will continue as school begins (tomorrow...!)
